Reading through the comparisons pamphlet of the previous Z900 with the latest SE version seems amusing on the upgraded parts to be honest. I really wanted to try the radial-mount monobloc calipers from Brembo and I was not disappointed! Huge stopping power with great feedback under heavy braking. But what I appreciate the most is the suspensions upgrade on this bike. The bigger 41 mm inverted front fork offers reassuring handling and compliment the bigger braking power from the Brembo front brakes. Not forgetting the rear Ohlin S46 rear suspension, providing superior sense of grip and handling.

Out of the factory this bike is a complete package for a commuting and even for sports riding on the road. This is the first bike that I felt like riding with a racing footrest – it is high enough for aggressive foot placement when taking corners.

As someone who work in Klang Valley, heavy traffic is unavoidable. Kawasaki had done a great job on tuning the engine for a slow riding even on high gears. Revised clutch damper springs and updated FI settings contribute to smoother acceleration and deceleration so it is much easier to navigate and filtering through traffic as you don’t have to play much with the clutch and gearing. During testing, we tried 0% throttle in 4th gear and the bike was not even jerking! Such smooth engine response its so easy ride. I cant stress this enough, this is the bike truly suitable for someone who wants a big bike with super easy rideability.

With a price of RM55,900 for this SE version it is easily the best bike in the super naked category. Kawasaki really took feedback from their customers seriously and Z900 SE is a great response from them to produce such an all rounder bike with aggressive design.

DEFENSIVE RIDING

“It doesn’t matter how good you are at riding a motorcycle, heck you could even be a GP rider. But you can’t control others on the road and there will always be that one dumbass that can potentially cause you lots of trouble. Stay safe, stay defensive and stay focused on your bike.”
