Petaling Jaya, April 30 – In a launch party held at Ojos Bar, Jaya One, Petaling Jaya, Team Suzuki Hiap Aik Racing introduced its riders and race bikes destined to campaign in the 2016 Malaysia Superbike Championship.
The launch party was attended by Hiap Aik Motor director Chong, as well as senior management from Suzuki, and team sponsors Local motorcycle racing celebrities such as Oh Kar Beng, Keith Chia, and other key figures in the local motorcycle retail industry were present.
The Team Suzuki Hiap Aik Racing race bikes are Suzuki GSX-R 1000s, decked out out in a special Suzuki Blue livery, will be competing in the Superstock A and Superstock B categories. Displacing 1,000 cc, the four-cylinder GSX-R produces well over 190 horsepower, and is capable of reaching speeds of up to 290 km/h.
C Y Khoo, 35, will be riding the number 6 Suzuki GSX-R 1000 race bike. Khoo started racing motorcycles in 2013, and was previously active in four-wheeled racing, notably in endurance racing and go-karts. He came in third in the 2004 MME Merdeka Millennium Endurance race and fourth in the Rotak Max Asia go-kart championship.
T W Jin, 33, is campaigning the number 7 Suzuki GSX-R 1000 race bike. Jin comes to the Superstock B race category with a previous history of racing drift cars. Jin previously rode for Hiap Aik racing in 2014, and returns for 2016. His best racing results are two top-three finishes in the Proton S.S.O drifting series, and an overall ranking of 14th in the 2006 D1 Grand Prix.
Hiap Aik Racing is mounting an intensive effort in 2016 to bring more Suzuki race bikes on the grid, especially in the 1,000 cc class. In collaboration with Suzuki Malaysia, Hiap Aik Racing intends to raise the profile of Suzuki racing motorcycles in Malaysia.
