It’s Thursday and not much is happening in the world of local motoring here today (is it really? we don’t know). But what we can share with our readers today is about the announcement made by Hong Leong Yamaha regarding the arrival or rather; the release of the Yamaha MT-09 Tracer CKD. Yes people, it’s assembled here. As a matter of fact, this is Yamaha’s fourth big bike model to be assembled here in Malaysia. The Tracer is a 4-stroke 847cc liquid cooled three cylinder engine that’s derived from it’s much aggressive brother the standard MT-09.
Our short stint with the MT-09 proves to be one of our most exciting bike test to date especially from the Yamaha brand. This Tracer by the way, we haven’t really got in touch with it personally and let alone to write about some opinion on it. What we can say from this announcement is that, the Tracer will come with traction control and ABS as a standard; a necessity when dealing with that powerful inline 3 engine. It will begin to appear at authorized dealers nationwide as quickly as the coming week from the publication of this article.
The Yamaha MT-09 Tracer will be priced at RM52,000 after GST but not inclusive of road tax and insurance. At this moment, only 2 colors will be available for the bike and in our opinion that is enough for you to stand out from the rest when you’re riding in with that Tracer of yours. We will be looking into the growth of this adventure type machine closely within this year, to see if people are jumping on it rather than the other competitors in the same segment.
